The Brolga micro water treatment plant
Designed to make decentralised drinking water safer, simpler and more visible.
A packaged micro water treatment plant designed to produce up to 30,000 L/day of safe drinking water from suitable non-potable sources.
Overview
Built for the constraints of small and decentralised systems
Small and decentralised drinking water systems are often expected to deliver the same safe water outcomes as larger urban systems, while operating with very different site conditions, resources and constraints.
Brolga, from Water Source, has been developed for these applications. It is a packaged micro water treatment plant designed to produce up to 30,000 L/day of safe drinking water from suitable non-potable sources.
With autonomous operation and embedded digital capability, Brolga is designed to manage treatment processes automatically while giving operators remote visibility, control and the operating data needed to understand and optimise performance.

How it treats water
Integrated treatment. Packaged for the real world.
Inside Brolga's robust outer casing is a complete treatment system: prefiltration, ultrafiltration, ultraviolet disinfection, pumps, sensors and control hardware in a compact, purpose-built package. This integrated approach helps simplify installation, operation and maintenance, while supporting consistent drinking water performance in real-world conditions.
Stage 01
Suitable source water
Non-potable water from a source assessed as suitable, with any site pretreatment upstream.
Stage 02
Prefiltration
Removes coarser particles to protect the ultrafiltration membrane.
Stage 03
Ultrafiltration
A certified membrane barrier for physical removal of pathogens and fine particles.
Stage 04
UV disinfection
A validated ultraviolet system for pathogen inactivation.
Stage 05
Safe drinking water
Treated water to site storage and distribution.
Pumps, sensors and the embedded control system coordinate every stage. Source-water suitability and any additional pretreatment are confirmed per site.
Capabilities
What Brolga brings to a site
Operation
Autonomous operation
Automates filtration, cleaning and disinfection sequences to support reliable, low-touch operation.
Routine on-site care, such as prefilter cleaning, is still required.
In-built connectivity
Provides connected access for remote monitoring, control, setpoint adjustment, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
Remote access depends on available site networks and user permissions.
Built to last
Built for Australian conditions
Designed for continuous-duty operation in harsh environments.
Deployment
Modular capacity
Additional Brolga units can be added in parallel to increase site capacity.
Rapid deployment
Purpose-built, pre-tested and designed for practical commissioning on decentralised sites. Easily transportable, connecting to a standard mains supply.
Digital platform
Powered by ELEIoT
Brolga's embedded digital platform, ELEIoT, is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and provides secure connected access to each unit.
It enables remote monitoring, control and configuration, supported by dashboards, alerts, operational data and analytics for improved visibility, troubleshooting and optimisation.
Remote access depends on available site networks. ELEIoT supports, but does not replace, routine on-site care.
Explore ELEIoT- 1
Embedded control system
Continuously monitors unit health and operating conditions, managing treatment, cleaning and protection sequences automatically.
- 2
Secure communications
Uses encrypted communications to connect each Brolga with the ELEIoT cloud platform over available site networks.
- 3
ELEIoT cloud platform
Provides the secure cloud environment for remote configuration, control, data storage and fleet-level visibility.
- 4
User dashboards and insights
Gives authorised users access to dashboards, alarms, trends and operational history to support monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation.
